New state laws take effect on July 1, 2011, so look for our next printed newsletter to find a summary of the those new laws that could impact you and your business. Also enclosed in that newsletter will the be Legislative Wrap -Up Report.
Redistricting continues, the House has approved another plan and the Senate appears close. A plan could still make it to the Governor by the end of the week.
Our legislative work continues outside of session. Many bills that impact our retailers have been sent to various commissions for further study. We will be actively following these. Additionally, task forces crop up looking at various issues (like the sodium reduction task force) often the outcome is negative legislation for our retailers. We have recently attended meetings on creating uniformity for local cigarette stamping regulations, sodium reduction, and Commonwealth Preparedness.
Finally, work on E-WIC continues. News was sent to us about Retail Enablement and what it means to your grocery store.
